There is no other special occasion that can be compared to a bridal shower; this type of event has that special “touch” that only a “girls event” can have, which creates the perfect premises for the perfect night for both the bride-to-be and her guests.
If you’re going to be handling the preparation of things, the first thing that should come across your mind should be choosing the proper theme for the event, because without that you won’t even be able to design the invitations. There are plenty of ideas available, going from a pizza party, to a pajama party or even a spa spoiler party. If you think it could be a success, you could always choose a “girls night out” - but it then turns to a more dynamic kind of event and a lot of nice classical possibilities are lost on the way.
Now design the invitations according to the theme and send them out at least six weeks before the event - this is an important step, since in nowadays’ round the clock work time, scheduling is very important. The next step would be preparing the decorations; whether you’ll be ordering them now or later, from my experience it’s very important to have them about two weeks before the magic evening.
Another very important aspect is the one concerning the food and cakes - which should also match the whole scenario. If the whole atmosphere allows you to, you could search some poems for being recited that evening.
An absolute must for any wedding shower are the games - since they can fill an empty moment with no problem and can help build connections between invites from different cultures. They can always cheer someone up and that’s why when you feel like things aren’t going into the right direction, just start a few games and the problem is solved.
As a conclusion, if you put a little effort into this - there’s no way that you’re not going to end up with an excellent party, whether you’re throwing it for a friend or just for yourself.
