Cabo San Lucas is a place bounded by an ocean and a desert. The first inhabitants in the place were said to step foot on the area about a hundred centuries ago. An Indian tribe first occupied the place and was known to have been a hiding place for pirates. Before the 20th century, there were no permanent settlers living in the area.
By the early 20th century, groups of Americans have started fishing for tuna in the area, and from there, the town was established when the fishing company, Compania de Productos Marinos, S.A. was put up.
The town was once a quiet village until new roads and buildings were constructed in the late 1970s. These new developments initiated by the Mexican government led to more improvements that built the town into a popular beachfront resort in the country.
It was in the early 90s when Cabo Wabo Cantina was put up in Cabo. It was then a small bar and restaurant owned and set up by Sammy Hagar, an American rock singer. It also started to draw people to the place. Today, it has expanded and still one of the popular attractions in Cabo.
The place developed into a luxurious Latin vacation spot especially after the construction of the Los Cabos International Airport as the tourists can easily access the place. Cruise ships coming from the Pacific coast also regularly dock at the port.
These were followed by the growth of many vacation rentals, resorts and grand accommodations to cater to tourists needs in the island. There are also increased properties owned by popular Hollywood celebrities.
The island, aside from its beautiful beaches, also caters to activities like fishing, as Marlins abound the waters of Cabo San Lucas. In fact it has been tagged as the Marlin capital of the world. Sport fishing is also popular in the area. Tournaments are held every now and then with up to millions of dollars at stake.
Activities like golf, horseback riding and other fun activities are also available in Cabo San Lucas. Because of the romantic and relaxing atmosphere, the area has also been a top pick for weddings and honeymoons.
