Have you heard of the Ultimate Shop Hop? What is an Ultimate Shop Hop you say? It is a unique twist on the local shop hop concept that came about in 2008. The owner of the Quilt Shop Directory WRBQ, Inc. - “We’d Rather Be Quilting” announced the introduction of The Ultimate Shop Hop - a coast-to-coast, build-your-own, one-of-a-kind shop hop experience with 4,500 shops to choose from in May of 2008!
Exclusively featured in WRBQ Inc.’s Regional Directories and National Directory beginning with the 11th Edition, The Ultimate Shop Hop gives quilters the tools to get out in the quilting community to become better acquainted. As the quilters visit any shop listed in the directory they may request a stamp on their passport - two stamps if the shop they visit advertises with WRBQ, Inc. With so many quilt shops to choose from it makes this shop hop truly nationwide, one in which anyone and everyone can participate. Passports can be found along with the complete directions in the current Quilt Shop Directories that may be purchased at many of the quilt shops and of course on the company’s website www.wrbqinc.com. For about the price of a magazine you can obtain a great quilter’s resource.
Two great quilting buddies were visiting one day about the annual shop hop that they do in their local area. They were laughing and talking and decided that someday theyd like to visit all of the shops across the country, each and every one! Thus the idea for The Ultimate Shop Hop was born.
The shop hop fits perfectly with the motto of WRBQ, Inc., ‘Quilters Helping Quilters’. By participating in The Ultimate Shop Hop, quilters will be supporting small businesses - and fellow quilters - all across the country. The Ultimate Shop Hop gives the quilt shop owners the ability to connect with quilters and artists in new ways and from various parts of the country, not to mention quilters connecting with other quilters they meet as they make the rounds from quilt shop to quilt shop. The goal here is to get quilters on the move and the Ultimate Shop Hop is the perfect opportunity.
Seeing a new technique or tool as they travel from quilt shop to quilt shop can inspire and spur on the creativeness of any quilter, young or old. When participating in your average quilting shop hop making it to the required number of participating quilt shops much be accomplished in anywhere from 3-5 days. The Ultimate Shop Hop gives all quilters an advantage as there is almost 6 months to take on the challenge.
Having your passport stamped or signed to indicate you have been to a certain quilt shop is not the only task at hand. Viewing all the new lines of fabric, new patterns and seeing the varied samples each quilt shop creates and displays is more than enough excitement for one day. Should anyone need further information about The Ultimate Shop Hop more is available at www.wrbqinc.com, WRBQ’s website. The last task to completing the Ultimate Shop Hop is returning your passport to WRBQ, Inc. to qualify for the prizes. Winner’s names in the 4 major categories are posted at the WRBQ Inc. website for all to see. What quilter, beginner or experienced, could ask for more?
