Shopping for a Valentines Day gift can be challenging. There are so many options available and so many ways to approach the occasion. A choice you might meet is whether to go for flowers or jewelry. Which of these two do you think makes a better Valentine present?

Below are some factors to consider when deciding whether it’s blooms or charms:

Can your wallet handle it? Let’s face it: money is truly hard to come by these days, but even the most extravagant, over-the-top bouquet carries a smaller price tag than a piece of quality jewelry. If you’re just a little strapped for cash at the moment, then flowers are your better bet.

Interesting, there are a lot of men and women who value flowers more than jewelry precisely because it’s budget friendly. They feel that Valentines has become so commercial over the years that the focus has shifted from relating to getting the most expensive gift. Flowers reinforce the sentiment that you don’t really need to spend much for the day to matter.

Worth the price. Jewelry would outlast flowers in duration, no doubt about that. Flowers are beautiful, but they remain for only a week or less. They simply wilt and are thrown away.

Jewelry, on the other hand, lasts long and is a good investment. Your girl can even show it off anytime, anywhere.

Your relationship stage. Jewelry is intimate and lasts pretty much forever. If your relationship with your partner fits neither one of those categories, you might want to put off giving jewelry for the meantime. After all, you don’t want to give the wrong impression. Flowers are more appropriate for a relationship that is just starting, or still starting to start.

On the other hand, significant milestones in a relationship can be symbolized by jewelry, the same way an engagement is almost always accompanied by a ring. Celebrating an anniversary, for example, can be enriched by jewelry. To illustrate, some jewelry setters sell ‘journey chains’: pendants designed in such a way that you can add a link or gem to it every time an anniversary or special event is celebrated. The length of the chain then becomes a symbol of your relationship’s longevity.

Go with what you know. Of course, you should always do a little homework before you go and spend willy-nilly on these presents. No matter which one you get, they’re both expensive.

Base it on her personality. Some personality traits of women would prefer one or the other, so it’s important to know which shoe fits your girl. If your girl is the fashionable, woman of the world type, she would prefer getting jewelry.

Flowers, on the other hand, are best suited for more caring and sensitive women, as well as those who appreciate the outdoors. For this personality type, the beauty of nature is more special than any man-made jewelry.
