Are you suffering through a break up and wondering, “What can I do to fix this mess and get back together With my ex?”
It’s common to sink into depression and wonder what you did to get here and what to do next. The urge to call your ex and beg them to come back is also common. Unfortunately, you’re likely to do nothing but drive them further away.
The best way to handle the situation is very counterintuitive. Feel like calling, texting or emailing your ex? STOP! Feel like staying in and crying in front of the TV all day? FORGET IT! Instead, here’s three things you should do…
First…Accept the Break Up!
It’s happening whether you like it or not, so you need to learn to accept it. If anyone asks, tell them that you are OK and are ready for the “moving on” process. Surprisingly, by doing this, it will greatly ease the the stress and tension for all involved. You and your ex both need a little breathing space. Once they’ve had a chance to step back from the relationship a little, they frequently decide they still love you and want to get bacK together.
Second…Do not in any way contact your ex!
Do not make an effort to contact your ex anymore right now. By cutting communication off you are signaling that you have already moved on and that you are doing just fine.
This will force them to think about your relationship and their feelings about it’s value to them. They’ll also have some time to start missing you. After stepping back and looking at it from a little distance, they are likely to realize how important you were as a part of their lives.
Third…You need a well thought out, step by step plan on how to proceed from here.
Once you’ve gotten through the prior steps, you should thoroughly plan on when , where and how you will meet with your ex and what should be said. This MUST be carefully planned, no ad libbing allowed. Do this right and you can almost guarantee a reconciliation. Do it wrong and you don’t have a chance.
