Canons PowerShot cameras have been impressing consumers for years. The PowerShot A1000IS will be no different. There are 17 different shooting modes offered on the PowerShot A1000IS. Focus, exposure, flash, and white balance are all automatically adjusted with use of face detection and integration of the DIGIC III processor. Red eye correction, which also works with face detection, helps to eliminate red eye as the image is captured - hopefully eliminated the need to remove red eye during editing. DIGIC III also offers severe power management for the camera; one of the greatest benefits is a long lasting battery life.
Face detection, as you already know, works phenomenally on the A1000. However, there is yet another feature with face detection. Consumers can select one face, within a frame, and with the click of a button, the camera will focus on that face regardless of where it moves in the scene.
The A1000IS also has motion detection. This technology is able to determine motion, in a frame, and automatically adjust ISO settings. These adjustments eliminate the blue that is caused by movement, and enables you to focus on the picture and not the settings.
Upon opening your new A1000IS you will find two AA batteries, a 32MB SD memory card, a wrist strap (the camera is a bit difficult to grip, this will come in handy), USB cable, AV cable, and the software you will need.
