Bridal or Wedding Shower Favors make Party more Fun Share/Save/Bookmark

We all know that it is customary for a host or hostess to include favors for the guests at any type of party. These are normally just some sort of small, inexpensive items that are given out as a way to thank the guests for coming. Different types of parties call for different types of favors, so it is no surprise that a bridal or wedding shower calls for bridal or wedding shower favors.

One thing that may not be common knowledge is that bridal or wedding shower favors can serve different purposes at the party. In addition to giving them out to each guest, the hostess may choose to incorporate them as part of the decorations used to make the location of the party presentable. As the guests leave, they each take one of these favors as a “Thank you” gift, thus reducing the amount of cleanup that falls on the hostess after the party is over. Making them a part of the decoration that the guests still get to take and keep can be an interesting use of bridal or wedding shower favors.

Another common attraction of these items is ordering a few extras to be placed in gift bags and awarded to the winners of the various games played by those attending the shower. These extra favors are usually chosen to be a little bit more valuable than those given to everyone, so that the winners feel that they have been rewarded for winning. This is a low cost alternative to choosing more different items specifically for use as prizes.

It is not uncommon in today’s world for men to be included at the wedding shower. These parties are known as “Jack and Jill” wedding showers and include the groom and his friends as well as the ladies that traditionally attend a bridal shower. The gifts given are generally to the couple rather than just to the bride. There are wedding shower favors that work well in these mixed parties as well as the more traditional ladies only bridal shower.

As far the prizes for the games go, the hostess can order some of the items that are appropriate for either sex, or order some that are more feminine and some more masculine and award them to the game winners according to their gender. Using this approach helps to ensure that all the guests participate and are happy with the prizes they receive when they win a game.

Whether it is a bridal shower for the soon-to-be bride or a wedding shower for bride and groom, the tradition dates back over two centuries, some people say even farther. In the past few years, giving favors as gifts to thank guests for attending has become a tradition at all sorts of parties, including bridal or wedding showers. These favors do cost much, but they can serve different purposes during the party. They may simply be given out at the door, included as part of the decorations and given out as people leave, or grouped together in gift bags and given as prizes to those winning the various games.
