I thought I put away the entire idea of playing the piano for good. And I just did not have sufficient time to play the piano.
I had struggled to make anything a little resembling music. I presumed perhaps some folks are just good at the piano and the rest pay to see those folks.
I believed perhaps some folks are just good at the piano and the rest pay to see those folks.
That is, till I got what I call a musical discovery. I will be able to never forget the day I took my old dusty keyboard out the closet to try and play it again for the 1st time. The dust on it was literally a thin film that covered it. I am sure 2 spiders where insane at me for evicting them from their houses. I put my keyboard on the bed and start fiddling with it. At first I assumed I was going be hideous but I was nicely shocked when it started making sense. First I was just playing one note at a time as most children do. I could see the way in which the notes where placed on the keyboard. I slowly and awkwardly put 2 then 3 fingers on the piano keys.
To my shock I was ready to play chords, nothing fancy by mosts standards, but it was grand for me. So what was it that got me to take my keyboard out of the closet after so long and helped me to grasp piano like never before?
I started learning to play the piano by ear, honestly. I saw a piano course that claimed it would teach me to play by ear. I was extraordinarily startled to find there had been an honest to goodness system to playing the piano by ear.
The strategy was so comprehensible infact, that when started reading the course, even without having a piano out front of me I was learning. I knew that if I was getting so much out of the course without even having my piano, then I had to get my keyboard out of the closet.
I have progressed and now play for my church and in different bands intermittently. I haven’t stopped learning to play by ear since that day.
