Moving day is a hectic time, and it can be easy to forget things. Working your way through this simple guide will help ensure that your moving day goes as smoothly as possible.

Utilities: Have you arranged to have the utilities turned on at your new house? Have you stopped all utilities at the old house, taken final meter readings, and informed the utility companies of your move so that they can adjust your final bill and have it forwarded to your new address?

Services: Have you notified your bank, mobile phone and Internet service providers of your new address? Do you regularly contract a gardener, maid service or other third-party service that you need to cancel? Have you arranged to have your mail forwarded?

Security Deposits: Have you fulfilled all the requirements for the return of your security deposit? Have you paid the security deposit (if any) for your new house? Have you clearly explained and documented any repairs required in your old house?

Documents: Make an appointment to have your drivers license information updated to reflect your new address, along with all your other important documents. The homes new occupants will appreciate it if you leave out any manuals for appliances or other items you’re leaving behind.

Final Walkthrough: Make sure that everything thats going with you is properly packed and labeled, and that any broken or used-up items have been disposed of.

Once you’ve checked all of the items off of your list, you can relax and proceed with your move, confident that you havent overlooked any important details.
