As a marketing consultant you have one job and one job only - to deliver results. Common sense, right? Surely all consultants are after providing their clients with results.

You may be a internet or business consultant but the bottom line is still the same. You need to do a great job and get big results or the chances of them hiring you back are slim to none.

Even though I said that a marketing consultant faces some different jobs. The main reason is when a company hires you they will be searching around for a great result. What is that result? To increase their cash flow.

You are going to want to do whatever you can to help them achieve that. It doesn’t matter if you are focusing on a long winded strategy or a short term tactic; what ever you do you need to remember that results are going to be the only thing that counts.

Short-term tactics like using PPC, a new advertisement or direct mail promotion may be the most effective. Or you may find that introducing a referral system fits the bill better. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

Remember all the clients you deal with will be a bit different. Some of your clients that have big business will have a big budget to play around with. Where a little business run by a family or one that is just starting out would be different.

No matter what kind of budget you are working with remember that the bottom line is to help your consulting clients get results and make more money.

What you need to do is make sure that everything you help your clients with can be measured with results of some sort. If it’s measurable it can be tested and proved and you’ll see what is working and what needs changing.

As you start to show your clients the kind of testing you are doing and show that you are improving their business they’ll have more budget available for you as the consultant.

If you don’t show good results, your jobs as marketing consultant will run out. Remember it doesn’t matter what you see yourself as. If you are not selling results then you are basically just selling your character and that can only go a certain distance.

If you follow these plans your jobs and clients will only increase. You will be making more money doing consulting and your results driven systems will work time and time again.
