As the most romantic holiday approaches, it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll celebrate and where you would like to dine. A lot of couples enjoy eating a fancy dinner at their favorite special restaurant. Another wonderful option is celebrating with a romantic meal in the comfort of your own home. Not only is it quiet and private place to enjoy your date, but it’s generally a lot less pricey and you don’t need a reservation.
It’s quite a lot of fun creating your own romantic atmosphere. There are some special touches that will set the mood perfectly. For your table, you can start with a nice linen tablecloth and complementary linen napkins for each setting. The centerpiece can be a fresh bouquet of flowers with a circle of some scented tea lights or votive candles. Next place your good dishes, silverware, and sparkling glassware at each place setting. Add some romantic background music, light the candles and your atmosphere is all set.
Now depending upon your cooking expertise you can choose to make a complicated meal or a relatively simple one. For such a special occasion it’s always better to go simpler and have it turn out well than to try something that is too difficult and have it turn out overcooked. Dinner can consist of a tasty appetizer, followed by your entre along with one or two side dishes. Serve your favorite wine along with the meal and finish off with a special dessert and a rich coffee or cappuccino.
Pick your menu based on the main entre. For instance if you’re both big on poultry, you can serve herbed chicken breasts with wild rice and a fresh baby green salad. Do you prefer a sirloin steak or baked fish? Then you might prefer to serve your sirloin with garlic potatoes and sugar snap peas or a baked flounder with lemon asparagus and herbed risotto. Whatever you choose will be fine if you choose something you both enjoy and stick to cooking what you’re good at.
When it comes to your dessert, why not splurge? Visit your favorite local bakery and pick out something sinful and beautiful to enjoy. However, if you love to bake and want to go with a homemade dessert, than pick something you’d both enjoy and something you know you can easily make. Serve it with some rich coffee or a sweet dessert coffee with a kick like hot buttered coffee or chocolate hazelnut coffee.
To be able to enjoy your dinner, it helps to get as many of the tasks out of the way long before your company arrives. If you can do some of the food preparation and table setting done the day before, even better. You deserve to enjoy this day and keep it as hassle-free as possible so you and you have a romantic, enjoyable, memorable Valentine’s Day.
