You might think you have the coolest cell phone in the world, but if your ring tone is from the last century, you’re dead in the water before you even get to begin. Nowadays the coolest cell phones need the ability to blast out the coolest ring tones and all the latest MP3’s.

You need to be able to use your phone for talking and texting that’s true, but they are way down the list of essential features when it comes to choosing a cool cell phone.

A cell phone with many great features is an absolute must, but when it is only capable of playing if you are lucky polyphonic ring tones, then the phone can never truly be a cool one.

To think, it used to be that the only music you would have on your cell phone was that of a monophonic ring tone.

Soon after, polyphonic became all the rage, and people were looking for cool phones that could play MP3s. Now their choice of ring tones and music was virtually unlimited.

Initially polyphonic phones were more expensive than monophonic ones, but they were hugely popular and the demand was enormous. The battle to have the collest ring tones had begun.

Who would have ever predicted 10 years ago, that the humble cell phone would turn in to the full on multi media devices that we have today?

Sure, service providers may play a big part in the choice of a cell phone, but what plays an even more pivotal role is the ability for the most amount of features at the lowest rates.

If you are happy to sign up for and be locked in to a contract for some time, you will get to have the choice of all the latest cell phones for virtually nothing.

If you have yourself a USB cable, you can download any song you want on to your cell. It’s anyone’s guess what the next big step forward will be in cell phone technology.
