In the poker world, we saw a huge increase in activity recently. Entrepreneurs have taken good advantage of the increase in poker activity. Let’s take a look at the ways people are cashing big checks in the poker industry.

Before we do that, here are the reasons why poker has taken off. We can look back and see three distinct events that have caused the increase in people hitting the poker tables. Alright, listed in order, this is what happened that led to the growth in poker.

We begin in 1994 when polish poker player, entrepreneur, Henry Orenstein developed, and patented, the know how for the the hole card camera. The fans are now able to see the pocket cards of all of the players when watching televised poker. The first use of the device was in 1997 on The Late Night Poker Show, in England.

Poker had been on TV since the 70’s, but had a very small viewing audience. This was due to fact that not seeing the hole cards the players had, you were guessing what the players were trying to do. The pocket camera made poker on television massively more popular.

The next event that was essential in creating the rapid expansion of poker was the start of poker on the world wide web. The first online poker room had players at the tables in 1998. People can play poker in the coziness of home. The online poker rooms will display steady growth over the next few years.

This sets the stage for the decisive event that caused the boom. So, when Chris Moneymaker wins the 2003 WSOP Main Event, we see poker explode. Getting into the Main Event by winning a $40 online satellite tournament, then winning the grand daddy of all poker tournaments, sets off this unique boom.

The combination of the hole card cam increasing the interest in watching poker on TV, and the rise of web based poker rooms broadening the player base, positioned the poker industry for the “Moneymaker” effect. With the world seeing an internet, first time live tournament player, win the biggest tournament in poker, poker activity increased dramatically.

The increases we observe results in many opportunities for forward thinking business minds. There are a lot of ways to get rich in the booming world of poker. Most of these money making opportunities are internet based. Here are a few of the businesses you can try in the poker business world.

A number of people have found themselves making a nice living as pro poker players. Entrepreneurs have gotten very wealthy by acting as an affiliate for the online poker rooms. Books about poker have become great money makers.

People have developed software that help online players in gaining information from the games they play in. Some people are opening their own online poker rooms. You can find various poker leagues taking place at various locations in many areas of the country.

These are some, but not all, of the different types of businesses that entrepreneurs are utilyzing to cash in on the rapid expansion of poker. Working a poker opportunity found on the internet has to be the most promising. The future for poker still looks bright, and the potential for making money is there for those business people that are ready to go for it.
