Players can now play a game of poker in the friendly surroundings of home. Internet poker will display a steady increase in players as players began using these new poker venues.

Now we’re ready for the third piece to the puzzle. So, when Chris Moneymaker wins the WSOP World Championship of Poker in 2003, the poker boom happens. Getting into the Main Event thru a $40 online poker room satellite, then capturing the title, completes the sequence.

The combination of the pocket cam drastically adding to the number of people viewing poker on television, and the growth of online poker rooms adding to the number of poker players, had set the stage for poker to take off to incredible levels of popularity. With the world seeing an online, rookie, out duel some top pros to win the biggest poker tournament ever at the time, poker activity increased dramatically.
