In the poker world, we saw incredible growth recently. Poker business people have made good profits during this poker boom. Let’s take a look at the ways people have made big bucks because more people ae playing poker.

Before we talk about that, let’s examine why poker has exploded. There were three key things that created the increase in people hitting the poker tables. Okay, in chronological order, this is what happened that created the increase in poker activity.

The first event was in 1994 when poker player Henry Orenstein invented, and patented, the equipment for the the pocket card camera. Now, the viewers are able to see the hole cards of all of the players when watching televised poker. The first use of the device took place in 1997 on The Late Night Poker Show, in England.

Poker had been on TV since the 70’s, however few people were watching. The reason for this was that not seeing the hole cards the players were working with, it was impossible to know what the players tactics were. The hole card camera made viewing poker on television very addictive.

The next event that led to the accelerated growth of poker was the beginning of poker on the world wide web. The initial internet based poker room began in 1998. Players can now play a game of poker in the coziness of home. Internet poker will see consistent growth as players began using these new poker venues.

This sets the stage for the final development that ultimately led to the poker explosion. When Chris Moneymaker beats some of the top pros in the game to win the world series of poker Main Event in 2003, the poker boom happens. Gaining his entry thru a $40 online poker room satellite, then winning pokers most coveted tournament, completes the sequence.

The combination of the pocket cam increasing the interest in watching poker on TV, and the rise of internet poker rooms dramatically adding to the player base, had set the stage for the “Moneymaker” effect. Everyone seeing an online, rookie, succeed against some of the best players in the world, poker activity increased dramatically.

This growth produces many opportunities for aggressive entrepreneurs. There are numerous ways to become wealthy in the booming world of poker. Many of these possibilities are online. Let’s name a few of the businesses you can run that involve poker.

Business people have created software products that help online players to study their own play by using the hand histories in their computer files. People are starting their own online poker rooms. You will find various poker leagues being run at local bars all over the country.

These are most, but not all, of the various opportunities that people are finding to cash in on the accelerated growth of poker. Being in a poker business with an online presence certainly appears to be the most promising. The future for poker still looks bright, and there is plenty of money to be made for anyone willing to get started soon.
