While summer time is a time of outside fun, it’s also a time for outdoor jobs. Seems like there’s a long list of things that need to be done in your yard. And, many are tasks that have to be done again, over and over throughout the summer months.
Your landscaping is one of the things that needs constant care to look it’s best. If winter wasn’t kind to your lawn, you can plant grass seed to cover bare spots. Fertilizing your lawn will replace nutrients in the soil that winter freezes have destroyed and encourage a healthier lawn.
Creating flower beds in your yard can enhance the value of your home. But, they also produce areas where weedeaters often can’t be used. The addition of landscaping pebbles will eliminate the hours that you’ll need to spend weeding flowers. They can also add a decorative look to the edge of your lawn and can be bought in various colors.
The wood on your deck often takes a hiding throughout the winter. The action of snow melt, freezing and thawing can rapidly damage the decks exterior. Completely cleaning the wood and re-sealing it will prevent it from deteriorating further and needing replacement. A little effort now can save you from increased work in the future.
Every lighting fixture in your yard should be cleaned a minimum of once annuallyper year. Even if you have low maintenance solar lights, you should still remove all of the covers and clean them with soapy water. Glass globes or plastic covers that are dirty will cause your outside lighting to be less effective.
With all of the other outdoor jobs that must be carried out, the exterior of your house sometimes is neglected. A visual inspection needs to be performed to look for wobbly boards, siding or bricks. Rain will seep behind any exposed places and will quickly cause your foundations to deteriorate so this is essential maintenance.
If you have a pool, you know that even though they offer of fun, they can be a lot of work too. The pool water needs to be checked at least once every week and chemicals added if required. And, you should clean the walls of the pool and check your filter at least once every 30 days.
Whilst it may be alright to allow your outdoor summer tasks get behind occassionally, don’t let them lapse for too long. Things that are neglected take much longer to complete when you do get around to it. And, summer time is for enjoying the yard with your family, not toiling all the time.
