In the worldwide poker industry, we observed an incredible increase in active players recently. Entrepreneurs are cashing in on the growth in poker action this boom has created. Let’s take a look at the ways creative business people have made big bucks during this poker boom.

Before we look at that, let’s look at why poker has taken off. We can identify 3 separate events that caused the expansion in action at the poker tables. Alright, listed in order, these are the things that occurred that created the increase in poker activity.

We begin in 1994 when polish poker player, entrepreneur, Henry Orenstein invented, and patented, the know how for the the pocket card camera. The fans are now able to see the hole cards that each of the players have when watching televised poker. The first use of the device happened in 1997 on a European poker show.

Poker had been on TV since the 70’s, however few people were watching. This was because not knowing what cards the players had, you had no idea what the players were trying to do. The hole card camera made watching poker events on television incredibly entertaining.

The next event that moved us closer to the poker boom was the arrival of internet poker. The original online poker room was opened in 1998. People are now able to play poker in the friendly surroundings of virtually any place they can imagine. Internet poker will show a growing player base as people learned of these new poker rooms.

This sets the stage for the decisive piece to the puzzle. When Chris Moneymaker beats some of the top pros in the game to win the world series of poker Main Event in 2003, the poker boom happens. Qualifying for the tournament thru a $40 online poker room satellite, then winning, completes the sequence.

The combination of the hole card cam drastically adding to the number of people watching poker on TV, and the build up of internet poker dramatically adding to the player base, prepared us for poker to take off to incredible levels of popularity. With the world seeing an online, amateur player, out duel some top pros to win the biggest poker tournament ever at the time, poker took off.

This rapid increase in activity creates a vast amount of business opportunities for poker savvy business people. There are many ways to get rich in the rapidly growing poker world. A lot of these businesses are internet. Let’s list a few of the businesses you might want to start in the poker business world.

Some poker amateurs are turning into poker pros. A good number of people have gotten rich by acting as an affiliate for the online poker rooms. All types of poker writings have become fabulous sellers.

Businesses are selling software systems that help online players in increasing the knowledge about their play by using the hand histories in their computer files. People are starting their own online poker rooms. We have seen poker leagues happening at pubs and bars all over the country.

These are some, but by no means all, of the different types of businesses that entrepreneurs are utilyzing to cash in on the poker explosion. Being in a poker business found on the internet certainly appears to be the most promising. The future for poker still looks bright, and big money opportuities exist for anyone willing to get started soon.
