Coffee Tables Aren’t Just for Coffee

Coffee tables aren’t just for coffee; they have multiple uses for your home. Chief of which is that they pull a room together, giving it a sense of completion. Coffee tables also give a sense of coziness, especially to an otherwise large living room or family room. When they are surrounded by a sofa and a chair or two, they break the room up into little seating areas. These, in turn, create a cozy and comfortable ambience.

Because they highlight, or accentuate, a room’s theme, they are sometimes known as accent tables. If a living room has a heavy country theme, coffee tables can hold baskets, bears, or other country decor items. They can also hold art pieces or knick knacks that keep with the country air. Because of this ability to highlight a room’s theme, coffee tables can complete a room’s decor.

A coffee table doesn’t have to be placed in front of a sofa; it can also be used as an end table. A room needs a considerable amount of space to have a table in front of a sofa or a couple chairs; some living rooms or family rooms may not be that big. As an end table, there’s no need for the extra space. Plus, if someone wants extra lighting, a lamp placed on an end table is very convenient.

Since coffee tables come in various styles and colors, it’s sometimes difficult to choose one for your family room or living room. A good way to help you decide is to think about the dcor or theme of your room. Are you looking for streamlined pieces that are boldly colored and with angled edges? If so, then purchase the coffee table that will blend in and continue with that theme.

If is your room softer in hues and filled with natural materials, such boldness in style and color will not do. Instead, look to a simple, lightly colored wooden coffee table to match your decor.

Additionally, coffee tables not only add style to your living room or family room, they can also be functional. Many such tables can help with your storage or organizational needs. Even though these tables sit low, most have at least one drawer underneath. This is great for storing small items. Some tables have shelves in the middle and on the sides. Others offer more storage via an old style trunk, where you can place seasonal items.

Since the accent table is so common in American homes, the coffee table book has come into its own. Coffee tables look good with oversized pictorial books on them. Many people purchase these books to decorate their tables because the covers are truly frame-worthy. These types of books are enjoyed visually and are rarely published or purchased for an in depth read.

And let’s not forget the comfort coffee tables can bring to a room. After a hard day at work or school, it’s nice to be able to sink into a soft chair or sofa and prop your feet up. With a coffee table, you can do that. Just be careful not to knock over the accent items or the coffee table book! Maybe you can have a trunk style coffee table for just such foot propping.

Coffee tables are an important part of a living room’s or family room’s decor. They offer style and can be quite functional. Consider the theme of your room before deciding on the coffee tables of your choice. If you want them to serve as storage units or hold reading lamps, coffee tables will fit the bill. When you give thought and consideration to this decision, your coffee tables will enhance the comfort level and style of your room.

by davey cruzz

Bonsai ficus is very easy to keep, maintenance wise they require little, and are very unusual in looks compared to other bonsai trees.Being easy to keep, the bonsai ficus is a good starter for beginners.

Species To Try.

Growing ficus as a bonsai is a fairly simple task and enjoyable, though proper regular care is essential. by doing this you will learn the basics of care and the growth of your bonsai ficus. Some species worth trying is the dwarf ficus, the narrow leaf ficus, as well as the weeping ficus.

Range Of Temperature And Humidity.

Ficus is a large family of plants having some 600 species, a vast majority of them having a thick waxy type leaf enabling the ficus to live well in extreme dry air. A bonsai ficus adapts well to various humidity levels but are best grown inside, due to they need a minimum temperature of 55 F, you can put them outside during the summer months but bring them indoors if the temperature day or night falls below 55F.

Ficus Propagation.

Propagation. One of the easiest plants to root from cuttings, although the specifics for maximum success vary with species, its always worth sticking cuttings from your bonsai ficus into good soil, where they will root pretty quickly, unless you are already overrun with baby ficus.

Ficus Roots.

A lot of ficus will naturally grow banyan roots, so this feature is used often with the styling of bonsai ficus with the air root and the root over the rock type styles, using superthrive, on a monthly basis will help in the forming of the banyan roots.

Growing Seeds from Ficus.

Another way of getting stock to make your bonsai ficus is seeds, though this is harder to do than through cuttings, seeds from ficus need heat and of course humidity, but the seeds can easily fall foul of mold.

Watering Ficus.

The rules of watering for bonsai ficus trees is to let the soil dry out between waterings, so you should make sure to feel the soil before watering. Ficus can, during autumn and winter show signs of shedding its leaves because of excessive watering. One useful tip is to observe the leaves color, if they are turning yellow then stop watering, since yellow leaves are a sign that the tree is probably being over watered.

General Thoughts.

Getting used to caring for your bonsai ficus will be pleasurable, and hopefully you will feel confident enough with keeping other bonsai plants, both indoor and outdoors.

by SFXsource

You got that new pet, and now want to start photographing your furry friend. You won’t settle for a regular snap-shot, and are reading this article because you are looking for some inspiration. The following tips will help you to take beautiful photos of your pet.

1. Photograph your pet in natural light. Either use light coming in from the window, or take them outside. Flash photography and animals do not go well together. The flash could scare your pet, and it also causes red-eye.

2. Put yourself on the same level as your pet. You can either lie down or crouch. You will appear less intimidating, and you will also get a different perspective of your surroundings. Many times pets will investigate your camera, making for a very cute photo.

3. Learn about your pet’s idiosyncrasies and personality. When you know more about them, you will have more fun and will find them easier to photograph.

4. Try switching out lenses, using different shutter speeds, or different aperture settings. A wide-angle lens lets you fit more pet into your picture, a macro lens lets you get closer, a fast shutter speeds catches your pet in motion, and a smaller aperture creates a blurred background.

5. Remember to be patient. At first your pet may be uncomfortable, but as the photo shoot progresses, they will be less shy of the camera. You want to make sure that your pet is not uncomfortable or anxious; if you are calm, they will be calm.

6. Expect the unexpected. You never know when you will get a good shot because pets are unpredictable. Try photographing them with their favorite toy, enjoying a treat, or frolicking in the park.

Remember to have fun! You will be able to display your pets looking like rock stars in no time. You can always look online or in magazine for additional ideas.

Cheap Holidays In Tenerife

by Mark Ian Nettlemill

The Island of Eternal Spring is a name often given to Tenerife due to the much loved and much sought after year-round climate. Tenerife is truly an island of beauty and one that offers stark contrasts in scenery. The north of the island is primarily green with a very countrified feel to it. The south of the island on the other hand, is dry and hot. As the largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is always the popular choice for a holiday and is definitely worth a look if you like last minute deals and cheap holidays. But last minute deals and cheap holidays aside, it is the island itself that keeps people coming back year after year!

Beaches in Tenerife

Tenerife has a widely varied coastline and as such, can offer a variety of beaches to suit each taste. As a cheap day out or as a last minute plan, it’s worth taking a tour of some of these beaches - the beaches of Playa de las Americas feature golden sand and child friendly beaches. The Teresitas beach in the north of Tenerife has imported Saharan sand, framed by palm trees which give the feel of a tropical paradise, enhanced by the many beach side bars serving the best in exotic cocktails! To the east of Tenerife lie some of the best black volcanic beaches around, places of unusual beauty where rather than building a normal sandcastle, you can instead build the Dark Tower of Mordor!

What to Eat in Tenerife

Tenerife is home to some of the best tapas bars around. The food is cheap and the wine is plentiful and what’s more, you can sample some of Tenerife’s native dishes. Why not try the wrinkled potatoes with either a spicy sauce or a green sauce? Or the famous chickpea hotpot? If you are a meat-lover, then do not worry! Fresh meat is always available, but for that authentic taste of Tenerife, the fish is best. If the fish got any fresher, they would swim right off the plate - definitely not your supermarket variety!

Activities in Tenerife

You will never be stuck for something to do in Tenerife. Most activities can be booked last minute and the deals can be quite cheap. The Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz is astounding. It has the requisite zoo, aquarium and even a Penguin Planet! The Las Caadas National Park is a natural wonder that should not be missed as well, nor the chance to gaze in awe at the highest mountain in Spain, the dormant volcano Mount Teide! Shopping is another experience that should not be missed in Tenerife. The low taxes mean that you can bag some great deals and take home holiday presents on the cheap! The cheeky calls of the vendors mean that the experience will definitely not be a dull one as well!

Using A Water Fueled Car - Is It Possible ?

Files under technology | Leave a Comment

by Adrian Fletcher

Given the inexorable rise in gas prices of late, water as fuel for cars is getting a closer inspection by many people. Despite what the name might suggest, an engine that runs on water wouldn’t really be running on the water itself, but instead extracting the hydrogen gas from the water to be used as fuel. By using certain specialized equipment, the hydrogen can be separated from the oxygen in water and injected into the car’s fuel lines.

The two most common systems for using water as fuel for vehicles are a hybrid system, which adds hydrogen gas to your vehicle’s engine and the second system which relies on hydrogen gas production to fuel the engine either on board or separately.

A hybrid hydrogen gas fueling system lessens the amount of gasoline used by your car by largely extending how many miles you get to the gallon and by also reducing the emissions coming from your car as hydrogen gas is clean burning and has absolutely no emissions. The hydorgen gas is effectively an additive to get better economy out of the fuel that you are currently using. If used only with oxygen, hydrogen emissions are nothing but water vapor.

Kits for converting to water as fuel for cars range in price from less than a hundred dollars for plans to build your own system using easy to find parts from auto parts and hardware stores, to kits costing several thousand dollars that include everything needed to convert your vehicle. True water as fuel for cars systems convert your vehicle to one hundred percent hydrogen fuel. This type of system is the most expensive and complicated to install but when you are done your visits to the gas station are over. Using much larger water holding tanks, or fuel cells with internal hydrogen processing equipment, these systems typically require much more room in the vehicle to install.

In order to save gas in your vehicle you could either install a mini hydrogen plant in your vehicle for producing hydrogen or opt for a system that has the facility for storing hydrogen gas itself. However, the second option is practical only if you are located near hydrogen producing plant or fueling station. In this method, the hydrogen gas is produced in the plant or fueling station instead of in the vehicle.

Vehicle manufacturers such as Honda and BMW are designing their new model vehicles with a view to using built-in tanks to store water as fuel for cars. Given the present lack of availability of hydrogen fueling stations, major automobile manufacturers will be constrained to offer only hydrogen/gasoline hybrid systems. The engines that will be used in these cars will be modified version of the same manufacturers’ gasoline engines and this modification will give optimum performance.

The water as fuel for cars technology or the creating of hydrogen gas as a fuel, has existed for over one hundred of years and has been used in many different devices. It is even used in outer space. Due to various technical complications and the relative ease that existed in finding oil for gasoline, not much effort has been put into hydrogen gas technology. Given the finite nature of oil and the increase in fuel prices this could very well change in the next few years. It will be many years before hydrogen filling stations dot the nation, but you can fuel your car with water for gas technology right now.
