The menopause can be a trying time for most women as so many areas of their body’s seems to be causing them physical and emotional distress. Throughout their lives, many women are lucky enough not to suffer from period pains but menstrual cramps can be something they start to experience when they reach the menopause.
The condition of endometriosis (which affects 1 in 10 women) can also increase the pain a woman will feel during this time. There are a few women that seem to suffer no pain at all, whereas many have them so bad they can barely get out of bed for days during their cycle.
Relief from this pain is something many women search for but it needs to be consistent. Pain relief pills seem to be the most prescribed option amongst women.
You can try any pain relief remedy and they should work but many women swear by Pamprin which was designed just for this reason. Even if you don’t like taking pain medication and have always steered clear of pain relief, this may be a time to reconsider.
Think about how many days you lose each year to painful cramps that you do not have to endure? If the cramps aren’t bad enough, women can also suffer with a bloated stomach and the sensation of queasiness too.
On a personal level, I was just tired of the cramping pains and decided to source an effective menstrual cramp relief solution. Another problem is the irregularity because some months it feels as if I am being given a bear hug and others where there is no discomfort at all.
Sometimes, my relief comes in the form of a heating pad which I normally use on my stomach, and other times it works best when placed on my back. If pills don’t seem to touch the pain, this may be something you want to try for your discomfort.
All this is ok if you do not have those menstrual cramps that disable you, in that event a more long term solution would probably be required. If this is a problem that affects your work attendance then you may need to do something about it before it damages your chance of promotion.
If you are finding the problem is getting too much then arrange for your doctor to prescribe a stronger form of menstrual cramp relief. Quite often it can be a simple case of being prescribed one of the birth control pills as these are effective for many women and this might be something your doctor recommends.
The only time this probably won’t be the ideal solution is if you have planned to have a child in the near future in which case your doctor should be able to advise you further of any dangers and options to help ease your cramp situation. It may take some trial and error but you will find a remedy eventually.
