Cold sores and oral herpes can be healed very fast with these first aid tactics. If you will let me, I would like to share with you these medically sound ways of curing your oral herpes cold sore.

If you are a cold sore, fever blister or oral herpes sufferer, you need help, not hype. You need effective ways of stopping the discomfort and getting rid of your cold sores.

Pain and embarrassment are the primary reasons to get rid of a cold sore. But there are a couple of additional risk factors that you should keep in mind.

- THREAT OF INFECTING AND DAMAGING THE CORNEA

The herpes simplex virus is extremely contagious. You can easily start a new infection by spreading it with your fingers. If you get it in your eye, it could be quite damaging to the cornea.

- ALZHEIMER’S AND COLD SORES

Alzheimer’s disease and active cold sores have some similar protein activity. There is probably quite a lot we do not know about the herpes virus and the long-reaching effects. It would be wise to heal them fast and practice prevention.

Here are some great first aid options for your cold sore. These are safe and medically sound methods to shorten duration and reduce the risk of new herpes events.

1. FIRST AID METHOD FOR REDUCING COLD SORE PAIN

The drug store cold sore remedies do not heal the sores any faster, but they can help reduce the pain. Look for a salve with benzocaine or lidocaine. They deaden the nerve endings, thus reducing pain.

Ice is the best remedy for reducing swelling and pain. Frozen, wet tea bags work very well and provide some anti-viral activity. Fever, headaches and swollen glands can be helped with aspirin or ibuprofen.

2. FIRST AID FOR CLEANING THE COLD SORE

Removing as much of the herpes simplex virus from the wound area as possible is important in treating your cold sore. It will reduce the risk of spreading the disease and will help to lower the virus population hiding in your body.

Keep sanitizing the cold sore and surrounding area with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol. Use tissue or paper towels to do this and then throw away. You can get handy single-use alcohol swabs at the drug store.

3. FIRST AID TACTICS FOR HEALING THE COLD SORE

There are amazing remedies you put directly on the cold sore that will heal it extremely fast.

Aloe Vera is an amazing healer of wounds. Use only the gel from a live plant leaf. Aloe Vera is easy to grow and a true first aid plant. Do not waste your money on bottled Aloe Vera for healing a sore. You will be disappointed.

Whether or not you have a live Aloe Vera plant handy, you can use the next two cold sore remedies for quick healing too.

Heat up and apply a wet tea bag, preferably with mint in it. Between 15 minute tea bag sessions, apply zinc to the wound. Zinc gel can be found cheaply in a great product called Zicam for colds.

4. ADDITIONAL FIRST AID TIPS FOR COLD SORES

The most powerful first aid is proper nutrition. Find and take the best vitamin supplement possible. Your cold sore will heal better. You will experience fewer cold sores. And you will look and feel as healthy as a kid again.

Once the cold sore opens up and starts draining, you should not use ice. The sore is now in the healing mode. Ice will relieve the pain, but slow down healing. Use heat to hurry-up the healing at this point. You can continue to use those numbing remedies.

Keeping the scab soft and pliable is an important first aid measure. It will prevent painful cracking of the scab. This prevents constant need for re-healing of the crust. Olive oil (extra virgin) works great.

In conclusion, the best first aid is not to get a cold sore in the first place. There are ways to prevent cold sores that will work for you. Maybe the vitamin therapy is all you personally need.

It is not magic. Each person gets cold sores for different reasons. You may have to do some testing of methods until you identify what works for you. When you do, you will enjoy a beautiful life without cold sores.
